Ok, I guess we are not making a very good effort at this blog thing. Who has time? Every step to get information and pictures loaded just requires a lot of time. Too many big event have happened over the past month or so, so I am pushing myself to do it.
On April 10th and 11th Richie graduated from BYU I. On Sunday Richie blessed Miles. It was a fun weekend with Rachel's family hunting for eggs, decorating cookies and getting lots of kisses from Miles. I kept telling Miles he was born to be kissed. The boys got in a game of frisbee golf which made Richie happy. Jacob did a lot of driving up in Idaho working on his driving hours. I love drivers ed time. It is so unstressful!
Ross came home the next weekend and we made a trip up to Nampa to see family there. We spent time with Grandpa and Grandma Ewing on work projects, lunch at Golden Corral and Grandpa sharing his life history with us. It was a wonderful weekend.
During the rest of that week we worked hard to finish up purchasing all the items Ross needed for his mission. It seemed like a never ending list to me. Somehow Ross managed to fit everything into the two suitcases and stay under the weight limits. I thought that was a miracle.
Saturday, April 25th we had family pictures taken in the morning, Jeffery's Eagle court of honor was in the afternoon. The rest of the day was spent playing and visiting with family and friends.
Sunday, April 26th, Ross spoke in sacrament meeting. There were three other wonderful speakers and an absolutely gorgeous violin/piano number. The spirit abounded in the meeting and we were all enriched. Lots of family and friends came over afterwards. It was a bit tricky feeding them all in the house since it was raining, but somehow we managed (another one of those miracles).
Wednesday, April 29th, we headed to the MTC before noon. Right as we got there the fire alarms went off, so we were outside for a short bit. Then we headed into the room to watch the Mormon ads before the meeting started. I think Ross was ready for the meeting to be over with, so he could get going. Parting hugs were soon made and Ross hurriedly made for the exit door with a grin from ear to ear on his face. How can parents be sad when their child is so happy? It was a good day.
Life just keeps going no matter how many grand events you have going on. School still has to be done and the lawns mowed. We just keep working at life every day. It is good.
We are enjoying having Jason, David's nephew live with us for the summer. You can never have too many boys around. I guesss this catches us up on events. Some day maybe I'll take time to write some of my thoughts.

We are kicking off our family blog spot. WE consist of David and Christy Garner with our three sons Jacob, Jeffery and Tanner. There is quite a bit to post for your information:

NEW ARRIVAL:

Mile Thomas Garner - OUR FIRST GRANDCHILD - was born to Rachel and Richard Garner on 30 January 2009 in Rexburg, ID. Miles weighed 8 lb 7 oz and measured 20.5 inches long. If we can figure out how to insert photos we will. If not you'll just have to trust us that Miles is the cutest baby ever born

JACOB:

Jacob is a published writer! He submitted a story about his experiences on Salt Lake Temple Square while supporting his older sister's wedding to The New Era magazine. It has been printed in the March 2009 edition on page 45.

JEFFERY:

Jeff is the newest Eagle Scout in the family. He also plays the violin quite well. His next recital is on 21 February. He and his brother Jacob are going to spend a lot of March hosting Japanese exchange students arounf the state of Utah and to Disney Land.

TANNER:

Riverton (Utah) Arts Council's production of Seussical is scheduled to open on 09 March and play through 23 March. Tanner has the lead role of JoJo and is in CAST A performances. He will be in the evening shows on Tuesday (3/10), Thursday (3/12), Tuesday (3/17), Friday (3/20), Saturday (3/21) and Monday (3/23). He is also in the Saturday Matinee on 3/14.

Evening performances start at 7:30 and matinees are at 2:00 (I think). All shows are at the Sandra Lloyd Performing Arts Center at 12830 S. Redwood Road, Riverton, UT

We are alive!

Hopefully, you all know we are alive just because we don't take time to blog. Most of you are receiving our letter to Ross and Ross's letters, so you know what it going on with us. We had a great, intense trip to Zions to hike the subway. It didn't feel like a big deal the day we hiked, but I had serious repercussions for 3 days after wards. I was thankful when all the lactic acid was out of my thighs. The harvesting and canning is done! We filled every bottle in our house this year. We probably only have one more time to mow lawns, so I am feeling a ton of relief these days. My big project now is trying to get my Grandpa Ewing's life history into a book with pictures. Grandpa remains positive and upbeat despite the intrusive kidney cancer. Jacob just finished a season of cross country running and Jeff is right there beside him running with him daily. Tanner is finishing up his last Webelos activity pin. Then he will come into my 11 year old patrol. Life is good and the Garners are happy.

Subway tirp September 20-21 2009

This trip was a blast with repelling, hiking, and swimming through freezing cold water. It took us about 9 hours and was 10 miles long.
